On November 7th, 2025, Professor Tom Scotto, Head of the Department of Politics at the University of Strathclyde, UK, visited the of International Studies at Renmin University of China and held discussions with Deputy Dean and Associate Professor Li Chen and Associate Professor Xu Zhengyuan.

During the meeting, Professor Scotto detailed the distinctive features of their "Diplomatic History" program, highlighting its unique advantages. The program leverages Edinburgh's diplomatic resources to create diverse practical platforms for students while embodying the university's "useful learning" philosophy through interdisciplinary integration of social sciences, humanities, and technology. He particularly emphasized its distinctive strengths in energy policy and data science research.

 In response, Deputy Dean Li Chen outlined the 's academic foundations in historical research, political theory, and regional studies, emphasizing its achievements in interdisciplinary collaboration and strategic studies. Both sides acknowledged the strong alignment in their academic approaches.
